How does the booking process work?

o book and secure your date we require a R2000 booking/retainer fee and for the Roxanne Davison Photography booking form and contract to be filled in. Please note that we work on a first come and first serve basis therefor we recommend securing your wedding date as soon as possible.

ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL?

I am more than willing to travel to your destination, nationally or abroad, to photograph your wedding. Travel fees are minimal. I only charge for the actual transportation and accommodation. I charge only for what I actually pay to arrive and shoot the wedding and do not stretch the costs.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH ENGAGEMENT SESSIONS?

Engagement sessions are a fun and comfortable way for the couple and photographer to get to know each other. Engagement shoots are done on location and take approximately around an hour or two. These sessions can be done in the comfort of your own home or garden, favourite Café or on a location with beautiful scenery. Props can also be used to create a beautiful scene and tell a story.

WHAT IS USUALLY THE TOTAL NUMBER OF HOURS NEEDED FOR PHOTOGRAPHY?

12 hours usually meets the needs of my average clients. However all weddings and client’s desires are different. When choosing a package for your wedding all delays must be taken into consideration. I often recommend the middle package, which has sufficient amount of hours to be safe. Naturally the largest package with full day coverage provides me with an optimal opportunity to capture the full story of the day.

Do your packages include a second photographer?

Our largest packege includes a second photographer alternatively you may add a second photographer onto your selected packege at an additional cost.

WHAT IS YOUR TURN AROUND TIME AFTER THE WEDDING?

You will receive your edited images around 12 weeks after your wedding date. All albums and printed media are ordered separately after the wedding images have been edited and take 1 to 2 weeks to be delivered.

Do we receive the RAW, unedited files?

We do not realise any RAW or unedited imagery. We take great pride and care in editing each photo individually and do not allow any person or entity to to view or edit our RAW/unedited images.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT WEDDINGS YOU ENJOY THE MOST?

What is there not to enjoy! I spend the whole day photographing beautiful brides in stunning gowns in different locations doing the thing that I enjoy most – photography. It is a pleasure to photograph such a day filled with love and emotion. With the vast array of different weddings, locations and people, opportunities are limitless to capture something true and authentic for each couple.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU GET SICK ON THE DAY OF OUR WEDDING?

In extreme case of illness, injury or tragedy I am in contact with a network of talented wedding photographers who have trained with me personally. I can call upon these photographers to ensure that your wedding day will be covered in the event that I am unable to photograph your wedding.

WHY DO I CHARGE WHAT I CHARGE?

Photography is my passion and I would do it freely everyday if I could but thought I would take the time out to explain why I charge what I charge below.

Other then the obvious cost of living and standard business costs, there are many other unforeseen costs in photography. As a professional photographer it is my priority to always give clients the best image quality possible. In order to do this expensive camera equipment must be purchased and is often upgraded. I personally own 6 different lenses. Other equipment includes off camera flash, studio lights, tripods, triggers, and light meters and of course the camera body.

Many unforeseen hours are spent editing on costly professional editing software. I love to make people feel and look beautiful which is why I take the extra time to ensure that you look your best. I more often then not stay up until early hours of the morning to ensure that each images looks its best.

Please understand that when you hire me you are not just paying for a photography session but for the professional equipment, qualified and skilled photographer, time spent shooting and for the countless hours spent on professional editing software.

Portraiture Questions

LOCATION OR STUDIO?

I have always equally loved shooting in studio and on location as both add different qualities to a picture. It is important to discuss with the photographer what look you are interested in. Researching on the internet and sending through examples of your desired “style” and “look” will help us both establish what would best suit you. Alternatively you can ask me to help and I will assist with sending you my recommendations.

CAN I USE PROPS IN MY SHOOT?

Most definitely! Props are always fun to work with and can create dynamic and innovative photos. If the look you are wanting to achieve includes props please be sure let me know so we can do our best to create the scene you are wishing to achieve.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR THE SHOOT?

Neutral colours and whites are preferable. Stay away from branded and bright clothing (unless it has a special application). Pretty dresses for day shoots are always better than jeans. If the shoot includes a couple or group it is recommended that you wear colour coded clothing or natural colours. For kiddies and modeling shoots I recommend that more then one outfit be bought to the shoot. A range of accessories, hats and others are always great to work with. Hair is also very important. This does not mean that it needs to be done professionally but a slight touch with a flat or curling iron can make a difference. Avoid oily looking skin by using powder. Refer to images in my gallery for examples of what previous clients have worn.
